A Preppy Couture Birthday ~ Reader Inspiration

Another one of our fabulous readers wrote to us on our Facebook page and asked for our ideas for a "preppy couture" birthday party for her tween daughter.  The first thing that came to my mind was THIS SHOOT styled by the fabulous team of Jubilee Events, The White Dress By The Shore, Coral Pheasant, Datura A Modern Garden, and Carla Ten Eyck Photography, and the sequin chair covers are from La Tavola.  Their Kate Spade inspired shoot really brought together the elements in our readers request perfectly:  Pink, Peach, Yellow and Grey, and maybe another color or two....well, may we suggest black and white stripes as the last colors on the list?  Preppy to the hilt, and no doubt couture, your daughter and her friends will have so much fun with the sparkle and sass of this theme! Why not announce the party in perfect preppy chevron stripes with this printed balloon invitation.  Festive and oh-so- fun!  Don't forget to request guests to wear colored tights and lots of sparkle for attire! 

Other decor options: Just a runner of stripes will do atop a perfectly pink underlay.  Just don't forget to trim the ends into the perfect ribbon V for a feminine touch. See behind the scenes details HERE.  Or, layer polka dot plates and top with a hot pink napkins tied in the center for the perfect preppy bow.  Other easy decor:  Metallic polka dots covering a canvas and crepe paper stripes covering any old glass hurricane candles will bring more prep to the party for a fete even Ms. Spade would be proud of!

What to do between gossiping and cake?  Why not have the girls sip mocktails and make pretty preppy hair flowers following this DIY project?  Alternatively,  how about setting up a manicure station with tons of nail polish colors and tutorials like these via Refinery 29 to give your gals preptastic digits while their fav movie plays in the background?  Don't forget the huge round grey balloons for a photo session outside!  Have the kids snap photos of each other on the new fuji instax, and make a scrapbook of their photos, leaving little notes and doodles for the birthday girl.
